We have arrived safely in Thunder Bay (our first stop in the journey to Vancouver). What a long day... 15 hours of driving. For those who ever plan to drive through that part of Northern Ontario, here are a few things you need to know:
1. The drive from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay is much longer than it looks on the map!!!!
2. EVERYTHING between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay closes during the winter... really EVERYTHING: rest stops, restaurants, gas stations... civilization just hibernates for the winter in this area.
3. Get gas and go pee in Sault Ste. Marie...even if you don't think you need to stop, do. There are no places to stop to take care of such needs until you hit the booming metropolis of Wawa (which, thankfully, now has a Tim Horton's... and at least one gas station). Wawa is a good three hour drive from Sault Ste. Marie. Nice!
